"Hand made daily to bring you the best we can offer with the freshest of ingredients."
From Ormes in 1908 to Jennifer and John today.
This bakery has been part of Wakefield since 1908, when it opened its doors as Ormes. For generations, neighbours have walked in for warm loaves, conversation, and the simple comfort of a place that has been here longer than most of us can remember.
Jennifer and John took the keys in 1996. They kept what mattered most. The scratch recipes. The early mornings. The unhurried care that turns flour, butter, and time into something worth the trip. Everything is still made by hand, each day, with ingredients chosen with attention.
More than a century in, we are still a village bakery. The kind your grandparents knew, and the kind we hope your grandchildren will know too.
